ESMT Berlin is the highest-ranked business school in Germany, a powerhouse of Europe’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. The top-rated Global Online MBA is committed to diversity and entrepreneurial empowerment, and this year has awarded fellowships to displaced Ukrainian women, in partnership with BMW Group.
An MBA qualification (Master of Business Administration) is a highly sought-after accreditation. A hallmark of business education, they are designed to teach skills that can help you succeed in business – whether it be in economic excellence, marketing magic or social responsibility and people operations.
Having an MBA equips many budding entrepreneurs with the tools and know-how to succeed, as well as offering a network of connections and practical skills for the life of a successful business owner or startup founder.
Renowned across Europe, ESMT Berlin was founded by 25 leading global companies and offers different master’s MBA and PhD programmes. Focusing on the pillars of leadership, innovation and analytics, it’s one of the driving forces behind Europe’s flourishing business landscape.
The Global Online MBA, in particular, has forged a strong reputation for its commitment to diversity – a key part of creating a more diverse entrepreneurial outlook for Europe. The school has just welcomed its newest intake and of the 53 students, 23 different nationalists are represented, including 10 recipients of the BMW Group Fellowships for Ukraine.
Ilka Horstmeier, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG commented: “Cohesion and solidarity are important core values for us at the BMW Group. That is why we are committed to helping refugees from the Ukraine. With the ‘BMW Group Fellowships for Ukraine’ program, we are taking the next step towards providing long-term and sustainable help. I would like to thank our partner university ESMT, which has admitted 10 female students to its renowned MBA program. In doing so, we are making a joint contribution to the reconstruction of Ukraine.”
Launched in 2021, the MBA is the first fully online degree program at ESMT and the only such program offered by Europe’s top 10 business schools.
It has an exciting curriculum that aims to give students complementary perspectives on key business issues over 7 modules. By combining an integrated approach with an online-first design, ESMT plans every moment of the learning journey to provide students with the skills a modern decision-maker needs to be a successful leader.
This year, the MBA is reaffirming its commitment to supporting diversity and supporting entrepreneurial minds who might not otherwise have the chance to thrive.
To this end, financial support provided by the BMW Group has enabled ten women displaced from Ukraine to join the course, giving them the chance to continue their professional development despite the hardships caused by war and displacement. The fellowships were awarded to female applicants with outstanding academic and professional profiles.
Rebecca Loades, director of the career accelerator programs at ESMT: “In the BMW Group, we have a strong partner helping us support female refugees from Ukraine and give them the opportunity to continue their education no matter where they are based. The program they have joined – the ESMT Global Online MBA – attracts students from around the globe. Through digital networking opportunities, social events, and our global alumni network, our students build a strong network that will benefit them during their studies, and long after they graduate.”
The 2022 intake is composed of 49% women and 51% men, giving it a gender parity seldom seen in business circles. Participants are on average 37 years old, opting to study after having gained some life experience – which they will surely bring to their studies and enrich their experiences. The students are mostly coming from tech backgrounds and financial and healthcare sectors – which might give some insight into the tech verticals to watch in the coming years.
