One of the few fitness apps designed specifically for seniors, SilverSneakers is a great way to start your fitness journey—and it’s even covered by some Medicare plans.
“SilverSneakers is the best app as it’s free and more than 10,000 gyms post their workout videos,” says personal trainer Isaac Robertson, co-founder of Total Shape.
However, Robertson cautions that anyone using the app should still listen to their body and not overexert themselves. “Make sure you get help if you find some of the exercises a little difficult—or you can skip to the next one,” Robertson says.
Even if you’re relatively new to working out, MyFitnessPal can provide you with the tools you need to lose weight and get healthier, thanks to its unintimidating and user-friendly programs.
“This application is great for people over 60 as it provides top-of-the-line workout routines suited for older fitness enthusiasts,” says personal trainer Dave Shelton, founder of My Fitness System. “Additionally, MyFitnessPal allows you to effectively track your daily calorie consumption to ensure your nutrition is on point and in line with your goals.”
