SEO Reporter Privacy Policy

SEO Reporter (the application) is a desktop application for Windows and macOS that reads your Google Analytics 4 and Google Search Console data and turns it into SEO reports. This policy explains what the application does and does not do with your data.

It covers the SEO Reporter desktop application only. The globeboss.com website and our marketing services are covered by our website privacy policy.

The Short Version

The application reads your Google Analytics and Search Console data. It never writes to your Google account.
That data is stored in an encrypted database on your own computer. We operate no server that receives it.
No usage tracking, no analytics, no telemetry.
One optional feature — the AI advisor — sends report figures to an AI provider you choose, using your own key. It is switched off until you turn it on.

Google User Data We Access

When you sign in, the application requests two read-only permissions:

.../auth/analytics.readonly — to read reporting data from the Google Analytics 4 properties you select
.../auth/webmasters.readonly — to read search performance data from the Search Console properties you select

Both are read-only. The application cannot create, change or delete anything in your Google account, and it does not request access to Gmail, Drive, Contacts, Calendar or any other Google service.

The data it retrieves:

From Analytics: sessions, users, engagement, key events, traffic sources and channels, page paths, device and country breakdowns
From Search Console: clicks, impressions, click-through rate and average position, by query, page, country and device
The list of properties and sites your account can access, so you can choose which to include
Your Google account email address, shown in the application so you know which account is connected

The application retrieves aggregate reporting data. It does not retrieve individual visitor identifiers or personal profiles.

How We Use It

Google user data is used for one purpose: producing the reports and on-screen views you ask the application to produce. That includes calculating comparisons between periods, grouping traffic by source, and generating written observations from your own figures.

It is not used for advertising, profiling, resale, model training, or any purpose unrelated to the reports you generate.

Where This Data Is Stored

Report data is stored in a database file on your own computer, encrypted at rest
The encryption key is held in your operating system's credential store — Windows Credential Manager or the macOS Keychain
Your Google sign-in tokens are held in that same credential store, never in a plain file
Generated reports are saved wherever you choose to save them

Globe Boss operates no server that receives, mirrors or backs up your Google data. We cannot read it, recover it, or produce it on request, because we never hold a copy.

The Optional AI Advisor

The application includes an optional AI advisor that writes a commentary on a report. It is switched off by default and does nothing until you enable it and supply your own API key for a provider you choose.

When you run it, the application sends the summary figures from the report you are viewing — metrics, comparisons, channel breakdowns, and top pages and queries — to the provider you selected, using your key. Supported providers include Anthropic, OpenAI, DeepSeek, Perplexity and Google Gemini, plus any OpenAI-compatible endpoint you configure, including a model running locally on your own machine.

Read this before enabling it. This is the only feature that sends any of your data off your computer. That data goes directly from your machine to the provider you chose, under that provider's own terms and privacy policy — not to Globe Boss. Review your provider's policy before enabling the feature, and do not enable it if your client agreements prohibit sending their data to third parties. Choosing a locally hosted model keeps everything on your machine.

API keys you enter are stored in your operating system's credential store and are sent only to the provider they belong to.

Sharing And Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, trade or transfer your Google user data, because we never receive it. No advertising network, data broker or analytics provider has access to it.

The only outbound transfer of report data is the AI advisor described above, which you control and which is off by default.

SEO Reporter's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Licensing, Updates And Tracking

Licences are verified offline using a signed licence file tied to your machine. The application does not contact a licence server, so we receive no record of when or how often you use it.

The application collects no usage statistics, no crash telemetry and no behavioural analytics.

When you check for an update, the application requests an update file from our update service. That request carries your IP address and application version, as any download does. It carries no Google data and no client data.

When you buy a licence we hold your name, email address and billing record, as required for the contract and for Irish tax law. Payments are processed by our payment provider; we do not store card numbers.

Keeping And Deleting Data

Report data stays on your computer until you delete it. You are in control of it:

Delete a client project in the application to remove its stored data
Uninstall the application and delete its data folder to remove everything
Sign out in the application to remove the stored Google tokens from your credential store
Withdraw the application's access to your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions

Purchase and licence records are kept for six years to meet Irish accounting and tax requirements.

Children

SEO Reporter is a professional tool for website owners and marketing agencies, and is not directed at children under 13.

Your Rights (EU/UK Users)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018 you may ask us to give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or object to our use of it. In practice this applies to your purchase and licence records, since that is the only personal data we hold.

Write to info@globeboss.com. We reply within one month. You may also complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.

Changes To This Policy

If we change how the application handles Google user data, we will update this page and change the date at the top before the new version of the application is released. Continued use of the application after a change means you accept the updated policy.
